Munich-based LiDAR Startup Blickfeld has expanded its seed financing to 10 million US dollars. The existing investors Fluxunit – OSRAM Ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds, Tengelmann Ventures and Entrepreneurship Venture Capital Partners confirm their commitment. The new financial resources will be used for the first series product and to further strengthen the team.
The Startup Blickfeld develops and produces LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensors for environmental detection. The solid-state sensor developed by Blickfeld delivers high-resolution, three-dimensional environmental data and is used in autonomous driving, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT). Blickfeld’s patented technology makes LiDAR high-tech devices suitable for series production.
The seed round was increased from 4.3 to 10 million US dollars
The increase of the seed financing round from US $ 4.3 million to US $ 10 million, which was completed just a few months ago, should further accelerate the company’s rapid growth. LastMile had already discussed the business model and its growth opportunities in an interview with co-founder Dr. Florian Petit a few weeks ago.
Blickfeld co-founder and CEO, Dr. Mathias Müller: “We have made very good progress with our LiDAR technology in recent months. The strong international demand confirms the performance of the Blickfeld solution. The expansion of our seed financing will enable us to bring our first series product to market even faster.”
Now, investors are also enthusiastic about the results of the first customer projects. “That is why we are further expanding our commitment at Blickfeld. We are convinced that Blickfeld’s LiDAR technology can be a key building block for the future market of autonomous driving”, explains Ulrich Eisele, Managing Director Fluxunit – OSRAM Ventures.
Founded in 2017 by Dr. Mathias Müller, Dr. Florian Petit and Rolf Wojtech, the start-up company has grown strongly in recent months: Today the Blickfeld team already consists of more than 35 employees. In the coming months, the company will recruit additional engineers, automotive experts and computer scientists in particular. In addition, business development, marketing and the sales team are to be strengthened.
