Via and Mobike launch multimodal transport package

0

A partnership between the American Via and the Chinese Mobike offers a new package, the so-called ViaPass in Washington. Via and Mobike have joined forces to launch the first joint multimodal transport package, the ViaPass. The two mobility providers intend to extend the partnership to other cities, as unanimously reported in several US media.

Last year Via had already attracted attention through the entry of a German OEM. Daimler from Stuttgart had founded a joint venture with the New York-based start-up Via.

The intention behind this is clear: Via technology and Mercedes-Benz Vans engineering form the basis for a perfect combination for a sustainable and affordable ride.

In so-called ride sharing, passengers travelling in the same direction are assigned to a Viavan in real time. This ride is requested via app. The complex algorithm then finds the vehicle that best suits the destination as quickly as possible and calculates efficient rides without tedious detours for everyone involved.

The ViaPass offers a multimodal offer

A four-week ViaPass includes free via rides and unlimited access to the mobike network of dockless bikes for a small upfront fee.

US General Manager at Via Alex Lavoie said: “We are pleased to partner with Mobike to offer the first multimodal carpooling and bike share pass. Via and Mobike are committed to providing intelligent and affordable alternative transportation that will give Washington D.C. residents more choices to stop single occupancy car travel and reduce traffic and congestion in our cities”.

Via and Mobike are potent partners for further cooperations

Jason Wong, General Manager of the United States at Mobike, said: “We look forward to working with Via to reduce the number of vehicles on our roads and combat climate change while providing consumers with convenient, fun and community-conscious transportation.
