After we reported yesterday about Hertz Sharing vehicles at three IKEA branches in Germany, we have news from ECE today. ECE has been developing and operating shopping centers since 1965 and develops other major properties such as corporate headquarters, office buildings, industrial buildings, logistics centers, transportation facilities, hotels and city districts.
With around 200 shopping centers under management, activities in 12 countries and more than 4.3 million customers who visit the shopping centers every day, ECE is predestined to think about solutions in the charging infrastructure for electric mobility specialists. The time a retail customer spends in a shopping center is thus spent sensibly – at least for the electric car…
And so it comes as no surprise that the shopping centre operator announced on Wednesday that it would be deploying the new EnBW mobility+ charging solution in 37 shopping centres together with EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. The shopping center operator is already offering its customers around 165 charging points in over 30 centers throughout Germany.
As a result, 37 centers in major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Hanover are to be equipped with new wall boxes from Hamburg/Karlsruhe.
ECE also plans fast charging solutions in the future
The cooperation will gradually be expanded to include fast-loading solutions. The charging infrastructure is to be rapidly expanded and all ECE centers in Germany are to be successively equipped with e-charging stations.
The Karlsruhe-based energy company is committed to bringing electromobility into people’s everyday lives in a targeted manner. Be it in the home, at work or on the road, where every third “Tank & Rast” site already has its own fast-charging stations.
With over 120 fast-loading locations in Germany, EnBW is one of the market leaders in this segment. In destination charging, such as shopping, EnBW has found a cooperation partner with the Hamburg shopping center operator who is also strongly committed to E-mobility and the expansion of the charging infrastructure. “We are working on making it possible for people to charge their vehicles simply, anywhere and reliably with electric cars. The strategic cooperation with ECE is helping us to develop a charging infrastructure that is even more targeted, precisely where people like to stay anyway. And our EnBW mobility+ App makes shopping and charging even more interesting thanks to couponing,” says Amadeus Regerbis, Head of Charging Infrastructure & Sales at EnBW.
On average, people spend around 70 minutes whil shopping in their local shopping centers. This means a length of stay that is ideally suited to recharging the electric car in the meantime. “Our goal is to promote electric mobility and the use of emission-free electric vehicles and to offer our customers an additional service in the centers,” says Harald Boll. He is Regional Director at ECE and responsible for the implementation of charging solutions at the center locations.
Conclusion
There will be movement in the equipping of charging points at large retailers and shopping center operators. After ALDI, Lidl and IKEA, we will also be able to charge electric vehicles across the board in the ECE shopping centers. Shopping will be an experience again in the future.
