Language assistance in the cockpit

0

Faurecia wins the highly rated „Deutschen Industriepreis“. The leading automotive supplier Faurecia received the award for its approach to integrate speech-active control based on Amazon Alexa for navigation, infotainment and seating comfort in the cockpit. In the jury’s view, Faurecia’s integration has not only made a major contribution to increased safety, but also to maximum comfort while driving. The concept for integrating a voice-active control system was presented for the first time at the CES 2018 in Las Vegas.

Interaction in the automobile

The automobile is increasingly developing into another space in which people live, work and interact with the world around them. It has long since ceased to be an exclusive means of getting from one place to another. Against this background, Faurecia transfers individual language assistant experiences, such as are already known from the smart home, into the vehicle interior.

Faurecia’s vision is a cockpit in which drivers and passengers benefit from continuity between the home environment and the vehicle thanks to seamless connectivity. Voice control becomes the new standard for the human-machine interface. Inmates can enter a new destination, order a movie, make a call or start a relaxing massage, completely independent of their sitting position and without lifting a finger.

The integrated Android-based infotainment system from Faurecia cooperation partner Parrot Automotive, based on Smart Antenna O3+ and HMI Brain, closes the gap between the automotive and mobile environments with a convincing multimedia experience (apps, navigation, music, video, etc.) on three large displays. The system is open, scalable and can keep pace with the latest developments in consumer electronics. It is also possible to integrate both offline and online language assistants with Parrot Automotive.

Since its foundation in 1997, Faurecia has developed into a major player in the global automotive industry. In its three business divisions Seating, Interiors and Clean Mobility, the company is now active in 35 countries worldwide with a total of 330 locations, including 30 R&D centers, and 110,000 employees. Its technology strategy is geared towards solutions for smart vehicle interiors and sustainable mobility.
