EcoScooting integrates what3words solution in Spain and Portugal

0

The delivery experience is a decisive factor for online shoppers, which leads electronic commerce companies to constantly improve their services in pursuit of greater efficiency. That is why EcoScooting, the 100% eco-friendly door-to-door delivery service, has reached a collaboration agreement with the what3words global addressing system. Their solution allows the user to identify and share any specific location with a combination of only three words. The company has integrated this system into the e-commerce platforms with which it works in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Lisbon to offer its customers quicker, more accurate and more efficient deliveries.

EcoScooting was founded in 2015 and is a Cooltra Group company. They promote the “green last mile delivery” concept. A sustainable parcel delivery in cities. EcoScooting vehicles, both 2 and 4 wheelers, are 100% ecological. EcoScooting also has its own reception platform, automatic allocation and real-time tracking of orders. This guarantees total independence, flexibility, adaptation, speed and traceability of the service. The EcoScooting service is currently available in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Lisbon, plus 10 other cities in Spain and Portugal.

With a global address system of 3x3m squares, what3words is a very easy way to talk about the location. EcoScooting has integrated this system into e-commerce platforms to facilitate deliveries to difficult locations, even without traditional addresses, minimise the number of failed deliveries and maximise customer satisfaction.

PwC Consumer Insights Survey shows what consumers really want – faster delivery

When choosing an online seller, 88% of consumers are willing to pay more to receive the package on the same day or have a faster delivery, according to the 2018 PwC Consumer Insights Survey. Consumers demand faster and more accurate deliveries, as well as short notice deliveries. However, traditional street addressing is a factor that in many cases limits the delivery experience. Most address systems currently in use are a relic of time before the Internet, email and e-commerce. They are often not represented accurately on digital maps and do not offer the efficiency or coverage that today’s logistics companies need.

The problem is especially evident in large offices, complexes and industrial estates with multiple entrances. Here the dispatchers waste a lot of time locating the building or correct entrance. “At best, this reduces the speed of delivery drivers during the last kilometre by a half. At worst, if we cannot get in touch with the recipient during delivery, it can mean returning the package to the depot and its subsequent re-shipment, with an increase in wait time” says Robain de Jong, CEO of EcoScooting.

To avoid these setbacks, what3words has divided the world into 3x3m squares, each with a clearly assigned 3-word address combination. In this way, the user can mark any location, be it an acceptance point or a delivery point, with only three simple words.

A few weeks ago we interviewed the founder of w3w Chris Sheldrick, his idea, the concept and his approach can be found here.

For example, ///filled.soap.count marks specifically the entrance door to the office of what3words in London. The application is currently available for both iOS and Android devices, in 26 languages and free so anyone can use it. EcoScooting was the first delivery service in Spain and Portugal to integrate it into its processes to improve the shopping experience and customer loyalty.

“It helps us to efficiently improve the services”

“We found what3words to be the perfect ally to avoid delivery setbacks and improve the general delivery experience for our customers. Now any site has a reliable, accurate and easy-to-use 3-word address, which helps us improve the efficiency of our service. We can also offer deliveries on short notice and to any location, from delivering a pair of sunglasses to the beach, to a set of skewers for a barbecue in the park, “adds Robain.

“The sunglasses on the beach or the barbecue meat for the BBQ in the park – the addresses are clearly identifiable.”

“With the largest fleet of delivery scooters in Spain, EcoScooting couriers will be able to fulfill deliveries faster, and anywhere. Tests in other European markets show that delivery time can be reduced by up to 30% when using a 3 word address vs a traditional address. The impact of our technology is clear for both businesses and consumers alike, and we are excited to bring these benefits to market with EcoScooting.” adds Pierre Francois, Senior Partnerships Manager from what3words.
