Twelve FUSO eCanter, all-electric light trucks from Daimler’s commercial vehicle subsidiary FUSO, will also be used by Dutch customers in the future: PostNL, the logistics specialists Albert Heijn B.V., Cornelissen Groep B.V. and Technische Unie B.V. as well as the largest online marketplace in the Bidfood B.V. food service will integrate the FUSO eCanter 7.5-tonner into their fleets.
Daimler’s commercial vehicles have been successively placed with customers in Germany and the UK in recent weeks. We had covered it in our report. Now the Dutch customers also followed.
With this all-electric light truck, Daimler aims to meet the continuously increasing public demand for emission-free and low-noise inner-city distribution traffic worldwide.
In Germany, the UK, Japan and the USA, all-electric light trucks with an output of 129 kW and a payload of up to four tons are already in customer hands. In the Netherlands, too, all vehicles are used for tasks that were previously performed with conventionally powered vehicles. Local noise and emission reduction of the vehicle and the increase of the sustainability of the fleet are the decisive factors for companies to use FUSO eCanter. The range of at least 100 km easily covers the needs of customers in inner-city distribution traffic, so that the vehicles can be charged easily overnight, depending on availability with AC or DC chargers. The charging time can be reduced to around one and a half hours with a quick charger.
The FUSO eCanter is the world’s first all-electric small truck (7.5 tons) in series production. Specially developed for urban distribution systems, the eCanter will make an important contribution to the environmentally friendly orientation of these companies. In the future, FUSO eCanter will make an important contribution to more sustainable fleet management in delivery traffic in urban environments and in a wide variety of forwarding tasks. With the presentation of the E-FUSO product brand in October of this year, FUSO has already confirmed its commitment to alternative drives. In the coming years, all truck and bus models will receive an additional electric version.
